My experience

If you are interested in the hard-facts, feel free to check my LinkedIn profile. Else you can continue reading here more about my personal take on what have I done so far.

Just and Choice

Right after finishing University I started working on a couple of billing application made from scratch using Winforms and .Net (yup, I started with version 1.1). Basically I learnt enough to see I had no clue on how to develop Software and realized there were a lot of excellent books that could help me improve on that

Microsoft

Having the opportunity to work at Microsoft and as a tester was probably quite a milestone in my professional career. I was very excited to join MS, but not too much for being a tester. I couldn't have been more wrong, over there I got the sensibility and praise for testing, I made a big step from coder to developer.

Sunweb

Around 2010 I got my first contact with the web world and Agile, I also discovered Continuous Delivery and switched roles a lot (QA lead, Architect, Scrum master, ...) . During this period I did a consultancy session with ThoughtWorks which was mind-blowing and live-changing. Those were pretty exciting years full of learnings.

GreenPowerMonitor

So far C# was my only programming language, and I decided to try something else. For a very short period I tried to write React with ClojureScript, I always had a thing for functional languages and really wanted to try them professionally and to improve on my frontend skills. The excuse was a SPA to manage and monitor renewable energy power plants, but I didn't quite reach my goal 😅.

LIFULL Connect

LIFULL Connect was the first job where I formally paired, mobbed and TDDed and where I had my first technical coach 🥰. In LIFULL Connect I finally got to experience XP firsthand and the experience was wholesome, as it went hand in hand with probably the best product team I've ever worked with. Thanks to them I discovered Marty Cagan and Teresa Torres and I experimented a lot of Lean techniques. We also had a lot of legacy, which also helped me sharpen my development skills.
During this period of time, I discovered Non Violent Communication and I connected a lot with it, it had a profound impact in how I understand and approach relationships and conflicts at work.

Criteo

My adventure in Criteo was very brief, only 5 months. Although the company is great and I had an awesome lead (Benjamin Baumann) I had a hard time clicking with the role. Luckily for me, Sunweb crossed with my path again to offer me a role that I was eager to try, technical coach.

Sunweb (again)

And I came back to Sunweb to try to be a formal/almost full time tech coach for ever. I had a lot of fun, my day to day was exciting, trying to challenge the teams with product mindset and introducing TDD and XP practices into the org. I also organized katas, reading clubs, mentored some peers and enjoyed jumping from one challenging problem to another as sometimes I was acting a little bit as Staff engineer as well.
Unfortunately, there was a change in leadership while I was in the company and at some point I felt lack of alignment, luckily for me Voxel crossed my path, and for them the leadership seems to have changed :P.

Voxel

And here I am, now as Head of engineering in Voxel, trying to help the people and teams in the organization grow both from a tech and methodological point of view while at the same time trying to contribute in the alignment of strategic initiatives.

In more mundane words, I'm having a lot of fun with a very nice group of smart people with whom I feel I have a lot of alignment trying to shape a bright future for Voxel while we live with a lot of technical debt 🥳.

Did I mention we're looking for people? Ping me if you wanna have a conversation and get to know a little bit more about us 🤗
